That is very touching. I'm bawling my eyes out. It is so very sad because it is so true. It is a reminder to us to look beyond what we see on the outside and remember the person still buried deep inside.Leslie

Cranky old man
by still thinking in``when an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.. later, when the nurses were going through his meagre possessions, they found this poem.
its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies.
were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital.. one nurse took her copy to melbourne .. the old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in mags for mental health.

I had another visit from a JW
by KristiKay insome of you may remember my story, i studied with a women for 6 months, after about 3' i realized what a corrupt organization it was and spent the rest of the time trying to get her to see what was going on with the watchtower org.
she has been a jw fo 50 years, completly brainwashed so i ended the study.
a few days ago a nice gentelman rang our doorbell (woke us up) and i heard my husband sayin "you might be interested in talking to my wife, but she is not here" i ran down the stairs with sleep in my eyes, tried to get myself together as best as i could, and told him that he really needs to look into his organisation, mentioned how the greek nwt is changed, told him he needs to "make sure of all things" read coc, i told him it was a shame to devote his life to a dishonest org, and he has to look into it.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 09-02-2012 WT Study (TRUE FREEDOM)
by blondie intrue freedom.
law that belongs to.
what is true freedom?

As always, an excellent review. So glad I don't have to sit through that tripe anymore. There is no freedom inside the organization. They put rules in force that have absolutely no basis in scripture. I felt like I was living in a glass box that everyone was watching just to find something to pick at, even if only trivial. Live in a Paradise forever like this? No thanks. Leslie

Any born-ins have this attitude about converts?
by Nambo inso there was this great gang of us, from south london, manchester and wolverhampton, went to socialise with a group in fishguard in wales.. amongst the conversations one of the single sisters stated, "i could never marry anybody who used to be in the world".. i guess a lifetime of knocking on doors had given her the impression there couldnt possibly be a convert in her midst, never mind later alone with her in her mgb.. so whats with this, did you think we had rat scabies or were possesed by demons or something?.

Nambo, have a quick experience to share. In my congo we had a single brother in his 40's who was looking for a mate. He had dated a few sisters and then found one he was very interested in. To make a long story short, she was not always a JW. I guess he assumed wrongly that his 30 something love interest was a virgin. As expected she was not. When he found this out the relationship came to an abrupt end. She was a lovely person and he threw her away due to non-JW past behaviour. Fool! Leslie

Shirley W & Farkel, I remember the old green songbook. I noticed later on that a lot of the songs sounded like church songs. There was one song that had the line.....our calls for succor he quickly supplies. As a kid I thought it said.....our calls for suckers he quickly supplies. Couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting any lollipops. lol Leslie

Can You See GB Saying This: 'Maybe We Were Wrong'
by Joe Grundy ini just saw this news story.. i never was a jw (or a catholic) but i liked this story:.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-19451439.
can you imagine a gb member ever saying in effect - 'we were wrong'?.

They will NEVER admit to being wrong. To admit outrightly to having been wrong would be the same as saying we did not receive info directly from God. Their assertion of being God's Sole Channel would go totally out the window. They are too arrogant to listen to anyone. They have destroyed so many lives and the fallout from admitting they were wrong would result in a great exodus from the organization IMO. We all know what happened to Ray Franz. No wonder they wanted to silence him, he was a humble man. It boggles the mind how they could possibly think they have God's approval. Leslie

I'm gonna have to decline your invite
by mrsjones5 inmy mother just told me today that her cousin's wife has extended an invite for me to attend their 35th wedding anniversary.
i find that i'm not in the mood to be surrounding by a group of jws especially since said cousin and his wife are both jws and i did accept the wife as a friend on facebook where i've been none too discreet about my distaste for the society.

Way to go Mrs. Jones. It is so nice to be the one declining the invitation (geez almost like shunning them) lol. Who wants to be surrounded by a bunch of boring Dubs anyway. Freedom, what a gift.-Leslie

A year has passed and guess what... I dont give a damn!
by TimothyT ingosh... i cannot believe i have been disfellowshipped for over a year!
its so surreal.
because of my ingrained belief that the jw organisation is the one and only true religion, i often think about everything that has happened quite often.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TIMOTHY, so glad you are enjoying your life and have the strength to not be sucked back into the cult. I followed your story (I was not a JWN member yet) and saw how you had two steps forward, one back, etc. But Wow you made it! Here's to your continued happiness & growth Leslie

Warm welcome and happy belated birthday Maybe So. Sounds like a B-day cake & gift to me. By giving it to you the day before your actual birthday she has plausible deniability. lol Looking forward to hearing your story.Leslie

Homage to Terry's Top Ten List from a Humanist (who's going thru the 'anger phase' of the exit process)
by DarioKehl inbillions of years ago, star dust exploded from ancient supernovae and eventually coalesced to form our local solar system.
earth, against astronomical odds, found itself in the optimal location, seeded with the elements essential to form living organisms.
billons of years of natural selection, global catastrohpies, extinctions and atmospheric changes have whiddled the vast biological community down to the fortunate, best-suited survivor species we see before us.
